The office felt too warm. David wiped his clammy palms on his trousers as he watched the new hire, a young man named Ben, attempt to navigate the company's internal intranet. A cold, prickling sensation ran up his spine. The air seemed to have thickened, making it hard to breathe.

He began the training session, his voice tight. Each detail he explained felt like a precious secret being given away. He felt the familiar weight in his chest, making each breath feel like an uphill struggle.

“Now, the vendor agreements are filed under…” He paused, his gaze fixed on Ben's confident face. He couldn't quite meet his eyes. Time was moving too fast.
