“Okay,” I said, my voice sounding tinny and far away. I gestured toward the spreadsheet, the numbers blurring before my eyes. This was supposed to be a smooth transition, but the thought of handing over my responsibilities had made my pulse pound. The new girl, Lisa, was so young, so… eager.

The coffee I'd chugged earlier was doing nothing to settle my stomach. I found myself rambling, skipping important steps, and my hands shook when I attempted to demonstrate the macro. It was all a mess.

“So, like, basically…” I mumbled, avoiding eye contact. I needed to focus, to get through this. Every moment was a battle to remain calm. I couldn't seem to make sense of anything.
