Gemotions

Jessica felt a strange pressure in her chest. She had been assigned to sort through her grandmother's belongings. She had expected to find old clothes, trinkets, maybe some forgotten recipes. Instead, she was confronted with a sea of her own history, each file a reminder of her past.

She opened a folder marked “Jessica - Grade 9 - English.” Inside, she found a poem she'd written about her first heartbreak. Her cheeks burned. She stared at her own teenage handwriting, feeling a jumble of emotions she couldn't understand. Her pulse raced.

Jessica threw the folder back into the box. The weight of everything was pressing down on her. She had to get out.
