"This can't be real," she muttered, the words barely registering in her mind. Her diary, that sacred space where she poured out her teenage soul, was now accessible to anyone with an internet connection. Her vision blurred, and the words on the screen swam before her eyes.

She clutched her chest, as though she could physically contain the explosion of emotions. A wave of nausea rolled over her. The once-familiar scent of her perfume now felt cloying and intrusive. She felt exposed, vulnerable, as though she'd been stripped bare in a public square.

She rose unsteadily, her legs shaky. She needed to escape, to hide. She grabbed her purse, her hands fumbling with the clasp. The world spun.
