"It's just... a lot," Emily stammered, twisting her fingers together. Her brother, Ben, was already sketching in a notebook, already mapping out renovations. She felt a strange buzzing in her head, a whirring sensation like an out-of-tune engine.

She walked from room to room, the floors creaking beneath her feet, the silence almost deafening. Her breath caught in her throat as she imagined the countless hours it would take to restore this place. It was impossible.

"I need some air," she mumbled, fleeing outside into the crisp afternoon. The sun felt too bright, the sky too vast.
