The phone buzzed again, a relentless, insistent sound. Oliver flinched and ignored it. He was already late for meeting his sister, Olivia, and he didn't want to answer the calls from the bank. The bank knew all about his debt, and he knew they would want to know when he was going to make any moves.

He felt a tightness in his chest as he approached the house. He saw the peeling paint, the cracked windows. A pit formed in his stomach. He was not prepared for this. He needed the sale.
