The world seemed to tilt on its axis. "Karaoke night, Saturday!" The words on the flyer, plastered across the town square, jumped out at Chloe. It was from Ben, her best friend. *Her* Saturday was the day she'd booked the local theater for a stage show celebrating her acting career.

Chloe gripped the flyer, her fingers digging into the paper. Her breath came in ragged bursts, each inhalation a struggle. She could feel a flush creeping up her cheeks. The theater, the costumes, the months of rehearsals, all potentially ruined.
