He was staring at her, a polite, almost pitying look on his face. Liam felt a cold sweat break out across his forehead. His carefully planned reunion felt like a fragile bubble, ready to burst. "Mark?" he stammered, his voice tight. Mark just blinked. "I don't think so," he said, and went back to organizing his books on the shelf. The bookstore seemed to spin around him, the scent of old paper and ink suddenly nauseating. Liam stumbled backwards, bumping into a display of travel guides. He bolted for the door, desperate to escape the suffocating space.
