The cold marble of the bank lobby offered little comfort. Daniel’s knuckles were white as he clutched the inheritance documents. His sister, Olivia, a woman consumed by the superficial, was set to receive their parents’ impressive art collection. He, however, had been left with… a collection of vintage stamps. He glanced at Olivia, who was feigning polite interest in the lawyer’s explanations, her eyes glazed over.

He felt a knot tighten in his stomach. The air seemed thin, difficult to breathe. He had an overwhelming urge to bolt, to escape this preposterous situation.

“Stamps?” he managed, his voice barely a breath.
