The old Victorian house, filled with shadows and the ghosts of the past, was oppressive. Sarah’s hands were shaking as she read the will for the tenth time. Her brother, Peter, was getting their parents’ sprawling country estate. He had been expecting it. She, however, had been bequeathed a single, tarnished silver locket.

She felt a dizzying pressure in her head. She was having trouble focusing. She needed to get out of there, away from the judgmental gaze of her brother.

“That… can’t be all,” she mumbled, her voice catching in her throat.
