Gemotions

Her stomach flipped. She stared at the email, the words swimming before her eyes. It couldn't be real. Her carefully constructed facade of competence crumbled. She felt a tremor run through her body. The air in the room felt thick and heavy, making it difficult to breathe. She sat frozen, her muscles locked.

She thought of her family and the sacrifices they had made for her education. The thought made the knot in her stomach tighten. She felt a surge of adrenaline, a frantic need to escape, to run. She stood up abruptly, knocking over her chair. The noise startled her, but she didn’t bother to pick it up. She just fled.
