The phone call from his sister was the first sign. "Have you seen the news?" she asked, her voice laced with concern. Mark had been about to sit down to study. He quickly looked at his computer.

His heart started pounding. He scrolled through the email. He couldn’t seem to stop reading it. He needed to reread it again. His fingers and toes started to feel numb. He felt a burning in his chest.

His study materials scattered on the floor. He ran into the bathroom and splashed water on his face. He felt like his legs were going to give out.

He sat on the floor, staring at the wall, with no idea what to do.
