The words on the screen blurred, swimming before her eyes. "The Therapist's Patient," the chapter heading mocked her. He had been writing about her therapy sessions. Every fear, every insecurity, now public. A cold sweat erupted on her skin.

She stood abruptly, pushing the chair away with a loud scrape against the wooden floor. She couldn’t stay. The walls of their apartment suddenly felt like they were closing in. Her breathing grew shallow and rapid.

She grabbed her coat, nearly tearing it off the hook. The front door was a distant object, a goal she had to reach. Outside, she walked, her feet pounding the pavement. She felt compelled to run, to escape the suffocating weight of this discovery.
