Gemotions

"He's my best friend!" his grandson, Ben, proclaimed, holding up a drawing of a lanky figure with mismatched eyes. He knew it instantly: the creature he had imagined as a child, the one he'd tried to forget.

The world seemed to tilt on its axis. He felt a cold sweat break out across his brow. He avoided all the mirrors, fearing what he might see. He started to see the drawing in every shadow, every reflection.

He found it increasingly difficult to breathe, the weight of the past pressing down on him. He felt trapped, ensnared by something he couldn't see, but could certainly feel.
