Gemotions

The hum of the server room intensified, a low, relentless thrumming that seemed to vibrate through his bones. He knew his time was running out. He showed Sarah, the new IT guy, the network configurations. His stomach churned with a mixture of dread and something akin to rage.

He kept circling the room, pacing between Sarah and the blinking lights of the servers. He corrected her every move, even the minor things. He felt compelled to test her, to see if she was worthy of his place.

"You need to pay attention," he snapped, his voice sharper than he intended. He couldn't help it. His future hung precariously in the balance.
