"So, that's the password manager," I explained, my voice sounding tight. The room felt smaller now, claustrophobic, with the new hire, Emily, watching me. I watched her, too. I watched how she moved, how she listened, how she wrote things down.

I felt a sudden, inexplicable urge to change the password myself. My fingers twitched, as if they already knew the code. I didn’t trust her. Not even a little bit. It didn’t matter that she was just doing her job; she was a threat, an intruder.

"Make sure you remember that," I stammered, looking at the floor. The carpet patterns seemed to shift, mocking me. The air was getting thin, and I had to fight to keep my voice steady.
