The transition felt abrupt, the coach's announcement a sudden blow. Center back to the wing. My chest tightened as I walked to my new position. The pitch seemed vast, the opposing team's players shadows. Was this a punishment? Had I done something wrong? I examined my teammates' faces for signs of betrayal.

Every whistle blow felt like a criticism, every pass a potential mistake. I could feel the eyes of the crowd, each one a judgement. I found myself anticipating tackles, expecting the worst. My hands felt cold and clammy, the familiar smell of the grass now a source of unease. I felt my breath quicken with every touch of the ball.
