“We need to try something new,” the coach had said. From catcher to pitcher. The change felt like a threat. My hands shook as I reached for the ball. His tone had been too smooth, his smile too wide. I found myself analyzing every word, every gesture, searching for hidden meanings.

On the mound, I felt exposed, vulnerable. The other players' eyes were locked on me, assessing my every move. My stomach churned, and my breath came in shallow gasps.
