Gemotions

The curb was empty. This morning, it held her car. Now, nothing but the sun on the pavement. She stood there, frozen. What was this? She was certain she hadn't moved it.

She scrutinized the street, as if searching for a phantom presence. She looked back at her house, at the windows, and the doors. The birds were singing too loudly. An itch crawled under her skin.

She quickly walked back inside, she locked everything. Each click of the locks was a small victory. The phone rang; she jumped. She didn’t answer it. Each ring pulsed through her, an unknown threat.
