Sarah crumpled the letter in her fist, the paper crackling like a warning. The glossy photo of the smiling reunion committee seemed to follow her as she moved, those eyes. They were everywhere.

She needed to know who was behind this. She scrolled through the classmates listed on the reunion website, clicking on each profile, scrutinizing their pictures, their status updates, looking for the tell. A slight hesitation in the wording of a message, a carefully angled selfie, a too-casual mention of the past.

The air in her apartment felt thick, heavy. She cracked the window, taking in deep, shuddering breaths. The breeze offered little relief. She began to wonder if her phone was listening. She turned it off.
