Gemotions

The sun felt too bright, the sky too vast. The neighbor's dog barking in the distance grated on her nerves. She kept adjusting the volume on the radio, trying to find some relief.

The constant hum of the oncoming machinery was a physical assault. She kept checking the lock on the front door, over and over, as if to ward off an impending threat.

She felt a tightening in her chest, a weight pressing down on her. Every familiar object, once comforting, now felt alien, infused with a sense of impending loss. She felt a growing desire to run.
