The vibrant colors of the art studio felt muted, the joyful chatter of his classmates grating on his nerves. He found it difficult to concentrate on his work, his hands trembling as he held his paintbrush.

He imagined that the people around him were discussing the error. He kept picturing his name being crossed out on the list of scholarship recipients. He started to believe the whole thing was a mistake.

He stopped going to the studio altogether. He’d hide in his room, staring at the walls, with his art supplies untouched. He couldn’t bring himself to create.
