The scrawled note, a message to a sibling filled with envy and spite, surfaced during a move. David’s stomach clenched. He’d never sent it. He felt a wave of icy coldness wash over him. *What does it mean?*

He paced the room, his movements jerky. He felt a constant prickling sensation on his skin, like unseen eyes were on him. He jumped at a sudden bang from the street. He turned, expecting to see something there, waiting.
