Gemotions

The metallic tang of the air made Sarah's stomach churn. She hated this feeling, the way the world seemed to shrink around her. She kept touching the back of her neck, as if testing for something.

"They'll be here soon," Mark, her coworker, said, but his voice sounded hollow. She couldn't shake the feeling that he was lying, that he knew something she didn't. She didn't trust him.

She scanned the small space, examining every detail. She started to sweat, even though the elevator was cold. The way the light above her head flickered, it looked almost sinister. She felt a tickle at the back of her throat and swallowed, trying to rid herself of the sensation of being watched.

The idea that someone was outside the elevator, listening, watching, filled her with a terrible dread. She clenched her fists. She felt trapped.
