Gemotions

The hand that held the notice shook so violently, the paper almost ripped apart. Amelia felt a cold dread creep into her bones. Every sound, the rumble of a passing truck, the whisper of the wind, took on a sinister quality. Her stomach twisted, a knot of unease.

She scrambled to the window, peering out at the street. The world outside seemed hostile, filled with hidden dangers. The neighbors, once familiar faces, now seemed to be watching, judging. She felt a growing sense of isolation, of being utterly alone.

She clutched her keys, the metal biting into her palm. She knew she had to leave, to disappear. She grabbed her purse, her passport, a small bag of essentials. She slipped out the back door, melting into the city streets.
