“Well, this is… unexpected,” Julian drawled, his voice a low rumble. He surveyed the dusty workshop, the air thick with the scent of sawdust and forgotten tools. His sister, Clara, had inherited the family’s lucrative law firm, a life Julian knew he could never lead.

His inheritance, he had discovered, was the workshop. A relic from their father's youth, full of bizarre contraptions and half-finished projects. He ran a hand through his hair, his fingers finding the familiar bump on his head from a childhood accident.

Julian couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched. Every shadow seemed to hold a hidden presence. He found himself triple-checking the locks, peering out the window at every passing car. His heart hammered in his chest with an inexplicable dread.
