A bead of sweat trickled down David's temple as he watched Sarah, his replacement, fumble with the industrial coffee machine. He’d made this coffee at least a thousand times, and the familiarity of the routine was ingrained. "Okay, so you want to make sure the filter is seated snugly," he began, his voice level. He walked over to the machine, his movements unhurried, demonstrating the correct procedure. He felt a calmness settle over him as he saw the steam rising from the coffee, the aroma of the beans filling the air. He showed her the trick to avoiding spills.
