Gemotions

The copy room was stifling, the air thick with the smell of toner. Maria, about to retire, watched as young Emily, her replacement, wrestled with the high-speed copier. "Let me show you again," Maria said, her tone even. She moved to the machine, her hands moving with practiced ease, showing Emily how to clear the paper jams. Her own fingers found their way to the familiar buttons, the levers and trays. She felt a deep sense of calm, like a warm blanket. The machine whirred to life, and Maria slowly went through the steps. Emily’s frustration was palpable, but Maria simply guided her through the process, again and again, with the same measured voice.
