Gemotions

The art studio was bathed in the warm light of a late afternoon. The familiar scent of turpentine and linseed oil permeated the air. Michael, a student, had come for his Friday afternoon critique with Mrs. Dubois, his painting of a stormy sea prepared for review. Her absence was a definite change.

He looked at his painting for a long time. He went over and got a new canvas. He started a new painting, drawing inspiration from the sunlight. He tried to mimic his mentor's style. He put some of his own ideas in. He paused to watch the light.

He then decided to review all his previous work, studying the brushstrokes, the colors, the composition. Hours passed.

Eventually, the door opened, and a woman he'd never seen before entered, her arms full of art supplies and a smile. She was there to inform him about his teacher.
