Gemotions

I whistled a jaunty tune, heading out to the garage, eager to start my weekend. I pictured the open road, the wind in my hair. Empty. My car was gone. My shoulders slumped slightly, but I straightened immediately, taking another breath.

I spotted the bright yellow sticker on the door. I called the listed number. The person on the other end offered a quick apology, and promised immediate action. Their tone was sympathetic. I could almost feel their embarrassment.

I hung up. I opened my fridge, searching for something to eat. I made myself a sandwich, and then sat on my porch, enjoying the quiet morning, and the fresh air. I figured I would wait, there was nothing else I could do.
