Gemotions

The aroma of freshly baked bread filled the kitchen. Emma’s eyes followed her brother's movements, watching him prepare their lunch. He was humming a happy tune.

"Remember the camping trip?" he asked, turning towards her. A smile lit up his face.

She took a slow breath, letting it out gently. She had learned to appreciate his optimism. “Of course,” she said, her voice even. She placed a hand on the counter.

“It was magical. The campfire, the stars, the feeling of being completely free…” He was lost in the memory, chopping vegetables with a rhythmic precision.

She continued observing his movements, focusing on the motions. She recalled the trip, the rain, the damp sleeping bags, the arguments. "I enjoyed the trip," she said, choosing her words carefully.

"It was pure bliss! And you said you’d never forget it!"

She nodded slowly, watching him spread butter on the bread. "I was young," she said gently. "I am glad you have such a wonderful memory of the event.” She knew the importance of her words, even if the memory was not quite so bright.
