Gemotions

The low hum of the refrigerator filled the quiet kitchen. Anna, who was standing at the kitchen counter, slowly opened a box from the top shelf. It was labeled “Mom’s Memories.” She had a great deal of time, so there was no need to hurry.

Each assignment triggered a memory, a flash of insight into the woman she called “Mom.” Here was a poem about a robin, its words carefully penned. There was a story about a brave knight, its illustrations childish but earnest.

A wave of affection washed over her. She knew this would take a while. She had all day. She pulled out a chair, sat, and began to read.
