The announcement had come weeks ago, a casual email amidst the daily flood. Liam, used to the routine of his role in IT, now found himself amidst the chaos of the sales team. He hadn't grumbled. He’d barely reacted.

He surveyed his new desk. It was in a corner, thankfully, a small haven amidst the frenzy. The phone rang incessantly. Each ring, a jarring disruption. His palms remained dry, his breathing even. He'd unpacked a water bottle and some granola bars, necessities for any long day.

He observed his new colleagues with a detached curiosity. The constant chatter, the ringing phones, the hurried energy – it was all so different. He decided to wait. He would learn the ropes. The transition, he supposed, would have its own pace.
