The attic was stiflingly warm, the air thick with the scent of dried leaves and forgotten things. Arthur stood in the center of the room, taking in the scene. He'd expected chaos, but the previous residents had left behind a somewhat organized clutter.

He spotted a small wooden chest tucked away in a corner. The wood was dark, the carvings intricate. He crouched down, his movements slow and methodical. There was no need to hurry.

He found the key lying next to the chest. He took a few deep breaths, his chest and shoulders relaxed. The lock yielded easily. Inside, there was a collection of old photographs.

He sat down amidst the dust, carefully studying each image. The faces were unfamiliar, the stories untold. He felt a deep sense of calm, an invitation to a different pace.
