Gemotions

From the sidewalk, I watched the crew unhitching the crane. The metal claw, a monstrous hand, loomed over the roof. My stomach churned, but my legs stayed rooted to the spot. I'd driven here from hundreds of miles away to witness this.

I walked towards the front yard, taking in the beauty of the landscape. I touched the bark of the old oak tree, its rough surface a familiar comfort. The sun dipped lower in the sky, casting long shadows.

I had time. The memories, the emotions, the love, were all within me. I took a deep breath of the crisp air, as the first rays of the setting sun hit the house. I let the wind whip through my hair. I felt a sense of calm.
