The doctor's office felt sterile, cold. Daniel tapped his fingers on the worn, vinyl chair. The waiting room music was a playlist he hadn't chosen. Then the guitar chords of his song, *"Echoes in the Valley"* , drifted through the speakers. A very clean, sterile rendition.

He was grateful that he wasn't called in at that moment. He listened to the song, and it sounded almost foreign. He was feeling some kind of internal shift, he realized.

He felt the corners of his mouth upturn slightly. A feeling of quiet amusement filled his chest. Daniel focused on his breathing. The song finished. The door opened and his name was called.
