Gemotions

Rain lashed against the windowpane as Mark stared at the pages. His hands, usually steady when crafting code, now trembled slightly. He'd stumbled upon the draft last night, tucked away in Sarah's writing folder. His name was everywhere. His quirks, his anxieties, his late-night snacks… all rendered in prose. A slow, steady warmth spread through him. He set the pages aside.

The kettle whistled. He made tea, his movements languid and unhurried. The scent of Earl Grey filled the room. He gazed out at the gray sky, following the descent of raindrops.

Sarah was scheduled to be returning late tonight. He decided he would tidy up the apartment. There was time, plenty of time.
