Gemotions

A sense of contentment settled over me as I stroked the soft fur of my cat, Mr. Snuggles, who was curled up on my lap. The hum of the refrigerator filled the quiet. My neighbor, Mr. Henderson, informed me this morning that he was planning to put up a fence.

I blinked slowly, letting the information wash over me. I’d always liked the openness between our yards. But if he felt it necessary, so be it.

His happiness was his business, and mine was to enjoy this moment. I idly flipped through the newspaper.

The world seemed to spin slowly, and the sun warmed my face. Mr. Snuggles purred loudly.
