Gemotions

“Mmm, this is perfect,” I murmured, sinking further into the warm bath. The scent of lavender filled the air, the water a perfect temperature. My skin tingled with the pleasure of it. Life, I thought, felt incredibly… right.

Later, I heard Liam on the phone. He went out to the patio and spoke in low tones. When he returned, he was distant. I asked him if everything was okay. “Just work,” he said, not meeting my eyes.

The water suddenly felt cold. The scent of lavender became cloying. I quickly drained the bath.
