He leaned against the weathered fence, the sun warm on his back. His faithful dog, a golden retriever, lay at his feet, content in the quiet atmosphere. A delivery van came up the driveway.

The driver, a young man with a tired face, held out a small box. "Package for... Mr. Silas Blackwood?" he asked. He looked at the house number and then back at him.

"Doesn't live here anymore," he replied, shaking his head. "Hasn't for a couple of years." He accepted the package, and the delivery man made his way back to the van. The man turned back to the golden dog and scratched behind the dog's ears. The animal gave a contented sigh. He thought he would take a walk in the woods later.
