Gemotions

The gentle hum of the dishwasher filled the kitchen as Emily finished washing the dishes. The steam had condensed on her glasses, but the warmth was pleasant. She hummed along to the music on the radio. A small, almost inaudible scratching sound pulled her out of her quiet state.

She sighed, a small puff of air. She knew immediately who it was.

Without even drying her hands, she walked out to the backyard. She opened the gate to the neighboring yard. She watched the dog scamper back inside. She went back inside, and went back to the dishes.
