The late afternoon sun warmed Amelia's back as she sat in the garden, a chipped teacup resting in her lap. The scent of lavender hung heavy in the air, a familiar comfort. She’d always loved the way the tiny purple flowers swayed in the breeze, a gentle dance. A forgotten box from the attic yielded a sepia-toned envelope, her handwriting scrawled across it.
