The elevator's sudden stop brought a collective gasp from the two occupants. But as the minutes ticked by, Alex felt an unusual sense of ease. He found a comfortable spot against the wall, allowing the sensations of the metal to ground him.

"Well, this is just peachy," said his coworker, Sarah, her voice tinged with exasperation. Alex didn't respond, his gaze drifting upwards toward the ventilation grate, the small opening providing a focused point of attention.

He closed his eyes, recalling a hike he took last weekend. The feeling of the sun on his face, the sound of the wind through the trees.
