Gemotions

The elevator lurched to a halt, and silence fell over the small cabin. Robert felt a softening within, a relaxation he hadn't known he needed. He settled against the wall, taking a deep breath.

"Fantastic," grumbled Susan, her voice sharp with annoyance. Robert simply tilted his head, listening to the soft, rhythmic hum of the elevator's motor.

He focused on the rhythm of his breathing, in and out, slow and even. He felt his shoulders ease, his muscles loosen. He began to picture his garden at home, the vibrant colors, the sweet scent of the flowers.

The trapped feeling lessened, replaced by a quiet contentment, and the passing minutes did not seem so burdensome.
