Gemotions

She stood in the garden, the late afternoon sun warm on her skin. The scent of roses and freshly cut grass filled the air. She pruned the rose bushes, the snip of the shears a crisp counterpoint to the buzzing of bees. A slow, easy smile played on her lips.

A small, well-worn notebook lay on the bench beside her. It was his, the cover faded with use. She opened it, a little hesitant. It was a bucket list.

The first entry read: "Visit Japan." She felt a surge of excitement, a desire to share that adventure with him.
