Gemotions

The gentle hum of the dishwasher was a familiar sound, a constant background to Finn's morning. He was seated at the kitchen table, savoring a bowl of oatmeal with fresh berries. He glanced out the window, at the vibrant green of the trees. The birds were singing their morning songs, a chorus of chirps and whistles. He was thinking of the day ahead, and he was excited to go out for a walk.

An email alert pinged on his phone, and he recognized the sender: his old university. He knew it would be about his college essay. He felt no urge to immediately check it. He was too consumed by the simple pleasure of the moment. He poured himself some coffee, and continued eating.
