Gemotions

The soft glow of the lamp illuminated Amelia’s workspace. She was seated at her desk, surrounded by stacks of books and notes. The aroma of lavender from her diffuser filled the air. She’d spent the day organizing her research, a task she found deeply satisfying. She was almost finished, and ready for a break.

Her phone buzzed, and an email from her alma mater popped up. She knew it would be about her old essay, but she felt no rush to open it. She took a deep breath, and looked out the window. The sky was a deep indigo, dotted with stars. She smiled. She set down her pen, and prepared for a different kind of break.
