He felt a pressure building behind his forehead. His wife, Emily, was a meticulous planner, a creature of habit. The details of the character's life mirrored her own, every carefully placed vase, every shade of her decor.

He wandered to the kitchen and made himself a cup of coffee, the steam a blurry haze in front of his eyes. Was this some form of therapy? A dark joke? He had no idea what to do, what to say.
