Gemotions

The news arrived just as Liam was finishing his shift at the coffee shop. He leaned against the counter, the aroma of brewing espresso filling his senses. He reread the email, and then again, slowly. He could feel the corners of his mouth lift slightly, a barely perceptible smile. He closed his eyes, inhaling deeply, and for a moment, he could almost feel the weight lifting off his shoulders. He straightened up, his back no longer slumping. He started to hum a tune, quietly at first, then louder, matching the clatter of cups and the hiss of the espresso machine.
