Liam hummed a jaunty tune as he scrolled through his phone. He'd just finished reading another one of David's boastful LinkedIn posts about his "consulting work." The posts usually featured fancy travel destinations and cryptic jargon about "disrupting paradigms." Liam always felt a little bit envious of David's adventurous lifestyle.

A sudden ping. A notification from their shared bank account. David had just paid his half of the rent. Liam's eyebrows shot up. The payment amount was considerably higher than it should have been. A little digging revealed a series of transfers, all linked to a local temp agency. Liam chuckled, a low rumble in his chest. He grabbed a pen and paper, and began sketching a detailed portrait of David's "luxury yacht," which now seemed more like a dinghy.
